Jhonny Gonzalez is a retired Mexican professional boxer who represented his country in various international competitions throughout his career. He was born on September 15, 1981, in Mexico City, Mexico. He started his professional boxing career in 1999 at the age of 18 and fought in the featherweight division.
Gonzalez won his first world title in 2005 when he defeated Ratanachai Sor Vorapin to become the WBO Bantamweight Champion. He then went on to become the WBC Featherweight Champion in 2011, defeating Hozumi Hasegawa. Gonzalez defended the title three times before losing it to Daniel Ponce de Leon in 2012.
Throughout his career, Gonzalez had a record of 66 wins (52 by knockout), 11 losses, and 0 draws. He retired from professional boxing in 2019 after a career that spanned over two decades. Gonzalez has since become a promoter and manager in the sport.
